Abstract<\/strong>: Languages can express negative indefiniteness with dedicated pronouns such as English nobody<\/em> or French personne<\/em> or multifunctional ones such as English anybody<\/em>, as in I didn\u2018t see anybody<\/em>. The negation can be expressed solely on the indefinite pronoun, on the clausal level or on both the indefinite pronoun and the clausal level, a constellation often called \u2018negative concord\u2019. I aim at an understanding of the frequency of the various strategies, of the nature and diachrony of \u2019negative concord\u2019 and of the different approaches in current linguistics. 
 
 
 
Professor Johan van der Auwera is Emeritus Professor at University of Antwerp, Belgium, and he has been developing very relevant research in Typology, \u2018Areal linguistics\u2019, English, Germanic and General Linguistics and in Theoretical Linguistics: Semantics, Syntax, Pragmatics, Morphology.
