Research Security Best Practices

This short talk will give an overview of what Research Security is and best practices for engagement. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions about their own experiences and come prepared to learn about this new field that is developing in Portugal.
Bethany Nelson is the Assistant Director of Research Security and Export Controls for Princeton University and has over a decade of experience in higher education research security and export controls. She is Past Chair for the Association of University Export Control Officers (AUECO) and has presented at variety of events for organizations such as AUECO, NCURA, EECARO, HEECA, the Erlangen Initiative, the Department of Energy, WorldECR, Kings College London, University of Kyushu, and is a speaker for the US State Department. She has also authored articles in a variety of publications. Ms. Nelson holds a Law Degree as well as a Bachelor’s in Physics. She also loves finding the flaws in fictional characters’ export and research security compliance.
