DISCURSO E TECNOLOGIA: DESAFIOS TEÓRICOS E METODOLÓGICOS
O desenvolvimento acelerado das tecnologias digitais e dos sistemas computacionais de produção, circulação e tratamento da linguagem tem vindo a transformar profundamente os contextos de produção, mediação e interpretação dos discursos. Plataformas digitais, redes sociais, interfaces conversacionais, sistemas de tradução automática ou modelos de linguagem baseados em inteligência artificial passaram a integrar, de forma cada vez mais estruturante, os ecossistemas comunicativos contemporâneos.
Neste novo cenário, colocam-se desafios relevantes para os Estudos do Discurso, tanto ao nível da descrição dos fenómenos discursivos como da adequação das ferramentas analíticas mobilizadas para a sua compreensão. A emergência de novos géneros digitais, a crescente multimodalidade das interações, a mediação algorítmica da circulação textual ou a produção automatizada de enunciados convocam uma reflexão renovada sobre categorias fundamentais da análise do discurso, tais como a enunciação, a intertextualidade, a polifonia, a argumentação, a organização sequencial do discurso ou a construção da identidade discursiva.
Ao mesmo tempo, os dispositivos tecnológicos oferecem novas possibilidades metodológicas para o estudo dos discursos, designadamente através da constituição de corpora digitais extensos, da aplicação de ferramentas de análise assistida por computador ou da articulação entre métodos qualitativos e quantitativos na investigação linguística.
Partindo deste enquadramento, as JADIS XI - CIED VI propõem-se promover um espaço de reflexão sobre as relações entre discurso e tecnologia, privilegiando abordagens que se situem no âmbito da análise linguística dos discursos e que contribuam para aprofundar a compreensão dos desafios teóricos e metodológicos colocados pela mediação tecnológica da linguagem.

São bem-vindos trabalhos que abordem, entre outros, os seguintes tópicos:

– descrição linguística de discursos produzidos em ambientes digitais;
– argumentação e posicionamento discursivo em plataformas digitais;
– fenómenos pragmáticos nas interações digitais;
– caracterização de novos géneros discursivos mediados por tecnologias digitais;
– organização linguística e discursiva de interações em redes sociais, fóruns, blogues ou plataformas colaborativas;
– discursos produzidos ou co-produzidos por sistemas de inteligência artificial e modelos de linguagem;
– análise da enunciação e da polifonia em contextos discursivos mediados por tecnologia;
– multimodalidade no ambiente digital;
– intertextualidade, circulação e reconfiguração de discursos em ecossistemas digitais;
– construção de identidades discursivas em ambientes digitais;
– metodologias de constituição e exploração de corpora digitais para a análise do discurso;
– articulação entre análise linguística qualitativa e ferramentas computacionais de análise textual;
– ferramentas específicas de NLP aplicadas ao discurso;
– desafios epistemológicos e metodológicos colocados pelas tecnologias emergentes ao estudo linguístico dos discursos.

Estas Jornadas pretendem, assim, reunir investigadores de diferentes áreas dos Estudos do Discurso interessados em refletir sobre os desafios colocados pelas transformações tecnológicas contemporâneas nos quadros teóricos e metodológicos da análise linguística do discurso.

CONDIÇÕES DE PARTICIPAÇÃO:

Plenárias e workshops com oradores convidados.
Sessões paralelas de comunicações com a duração de 20 minutos seguidos de 10 minutos para discussão
Painéis temáticosrelacionados com o tema do Encontro, propostos por conjuntos de proponentes. Cada painel poderá ter até 5 participantes (um deles será o coordenador). O coordenador de painel deverá enviar uma proposta de tema e resumo do Painel; número e identificação dos participantes e resumo de cada uma das participações (segundo instruções abaixo).
Posters com o máximo de 2 autores por poster.

SUBMISSÃO DE PROPOSTAS:

As propostas de participação (em português, inglês, espanhol ou francês) deverão ser submetidas na plataforma Linguist List no link https://easyabs.linguistlist.org/conference/JADISXI_CIEDVI/.

Identificação: nome do(s) autor(es); filiação institucional e contactos (telefone e email); São elegíveis estudantes de pós-graduação, docentes e investigadores.
Modo de participação: comunicação oral, póster, painel temático;
Resumo: até 300 palavras, incluindo: título; objetivos, enquadramento teórico, metodologia, resultados, bibliografia essencial (listar apenas as referências citadas seguindo a formatação das normas APA 7.ª edição);
Palavras-chave: de 3 a 5 palavras-chave.

As propostas serão submetidas a uma revisão anónima por pares. Por favor, NÃO INCLUA dados de identificação pessoal em nenhuma parte do resumo no ficheiro submetido.

Serão aceites duas participações por inscrito e, necessariamente, em modalidades distintas (comunicação oral, painel temático, poster).

- No caso das comunicações de mais do que um autor e nos painéis temáticos cada um dos membros deve inscrever-se individualmente.

MODALIDADE:

- O Encontro será presencial na Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto, nos dias 8 e 9 de outubro de 2026 (10 de outubro de manhã em formato virtual).
- O encontro prevê a possibilidade de inscrição de 25 comunicações em formato virtual para a manhã do dia 10 de outubro. Serão privilegiados candidatos oriundos de fora de Portugal sem possibilidade de deslocação presencial à Universidade do Porto. Os participantes que pretendam apresentar comunicação em formato virtual deverão explicitar essa informação no campo “Comentários” da plataforma de submissão.
- O Encontro presencial não será difundido virtualmente.

DISCOURSE AND TECHNOLOGY: THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL CHALLENGES
The rapid development of digital technologies and computational systems for the production, circulation and processing of language has profoundly transformed the contexts in which discourse is produced, mediated and interpreted. Digital platforms, social media, conversational interfaces, machine translation systems and language models based on artificial intelligence have increasingly become structural components of contemporary communicative ecosystems.
Within this new landscape, significant challenges arise for Discourse Studies, both in terms of describing emerging discursive phenomena and in assessing the adequacy of the analytical tools mobilised to understand them. The emergence of new digital genres, the growing multimodality of interactions, the algorithmic mediation of textual circulation and the automated production of utterances call for renewed reflection on key concepts in discourse analysis, such as enunciation, intertextuality, polyphony, argumentation, sequential organisation of discourse and the construction of discursive identity.
At the same time, technological developments offer new methodological opportunities for the study of discourse, notably through the construction of large digital corpora, the application of computer-assisted analysis tools and the articulation of qualitative and quantitative approaches in linguistic research.
Against this background, JADIS XI – CIED VI aims to provide a forum for reflection on the relationship between discourse and technology, favouring approaches grounded in the linguistic analysis of discourse and contributing to a deeper understanding of the theoretical and methodological challenges raised by the technological mediation of language.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

– linguistic description of discourse produced in digital environments;
– argumentation and discursive positioning on digital platforms;
– pragmatic phenomena in digital interactions;
– characterisation of new technology-mediated discourse genres;
– linguistic and discursive organisation of interactions on social media, forums, blogs or collaborative platforms;
– discourse produced or co-produced by artificial intelligence systems and language models;
– enunciation and polyphony in technologically mediated discursive contexts;
– multimodality in digital environments;
– intertextuality, circulation and reconfiguration of discourse in digital ecosystems;
– construction of discursive identities in digital environments;
– methodologies for the compilation and exploration of digital corpora for discourse analysis;
– articulation between qualitative linguistic analysis and computational text-analysis tools;
– specific NLP tools applied to discourse analysis;
– epistemological and methodological challenges posed by emerging technologies to the linguistic study of discourse.

The conference aims to bring together researchers from different areas of Discourse Studies interested in reflecting on the challenges posed by contemporary technological transformations to the theoretical and methodological frameworks of linguistic discourse analysis.

PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS:

Plenary lectures and workshops by invited speakers
Parallel sessions with presentations of 20 minutes followed by 10 minutes for discussion.
Thematic panelsrelated to the theme of the conference, proposed by groups of participants.
Poster sessions with a maximum of two authors per poster.

SUBMISSION OF PROPOSALS:

Proposals (in Portuguese, English, Spanish or French) must be submitted via the Linguist List platform at: https://easyabs.linguistlist.org/conference/JADISXI_CIEDVI/.
In addition to completing the fields with the author(s)’ information (name, affiliation, contact details) and the type of participation (poster, paper presentation, panel), participants must upload a file including: title; abstract (up to 300 words, including objectives, theoretical framework, methodology and results); essential bibliography (list only cited references and follow APA 7th edition style); keywords (3–5 keywords).

In the case of panel proposals, a single file should be submitted containing the panel abstract and the abstracts of each individual presentation.
All proposals will undergo anonymous peer review. Please DO NOT include identifying information anywhere in the abstract file.

Each participant may submit two contributions, which must necessarily correspond to different formats (paper presentation, thematic panel or poster).

Notification of acceptance: 5 June 2026.

Standard registration with presentation: €50,00
Reduced registration with presentation (postgraduate students): €25,00
Attendance without presentation: free - no registration required.
CLUP members: free registration.

FORMAT:

The conference will take place in person at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto on 8 and 9 October 2026. A virtual session will take place on 10 October, allowing up to 25 online presentations, primarily for participants travelling from outside Portugal who are unable to attend in person. Participants wishing to present virtually should indicate this in the “Comments” field of the submission platform. The in-person sessions will not be streamed online.
