João Santos is a Phd student at the Faculty of Arts from the University of Porto, with a Master’s Degree in Anglo-American Studies and a Bachelor’s in Languages, Literatures and Cultures (English and German), both courses being from the same faculty. He is now doing the 3rd Cycle of Studies in Literary, Cultural and Interartistic Studies. His main research interests are 20th and 21st century English culture and literature, focusing on fantasy literature, more specifically, the Harry Potter Series. His Master’s dissertation is entitled “Os Talismãs da Vida: Magia, Religião e Ciência na Saga de Harry Potter” and he is currently working on his Phd dissertation in which he focuses on the Harry Potter series, this time mainly utilizing the studies of Franco Moretti, who wrote the theoretical book Graphs, Maps, Trees: Abstract Models for Literary History. The purpose with this dissertation will be to present a new perspective in Potter studies by creating a cartography of the Harry Potter universe.
