Miguel Ramalhete Gomes is currently an FCT post-doctoral research fellow working on the theme of Shakespeare and presentism (SFRH/BPD/75848/2011). He teaches at Escola Superior de Educação do Instituto Politécnico do Porto (ESE-IPP). He has presented papers at several international conferences on the topics of early modern drama, especially Shakespeare, 20th-century German drama, Irish studies, and Utopian studies. He has recently published Texts Waiting for History: William Shakespeare Re-Imagined by Heiner Müller (Brill | Rodopi, 2014).
He is a researcher at CETAPS, where he is involved in the following projects: Mapping Dreams: British and North-American Utopianism; Relational Forms: Intertextual and Inter-Arts Dynamics in the Cultures of Ireland and Britain; and Shakespeare and the English Canon: a research and translation project. For this last project he is at present translating Henry VI, Part 3 into Portuguese. In the context of his work at CETAPS, he has in addition been part of the organizing committee of five international conferences held at the FLUP from 2010 to 2014.
